Goal

Loads the intrinsic-plus pattern for strength without aggressive DIP flexion.

Setup

  • Place a soft sponge or folded washcloth in the palm.

Steps

  1. 1Form tabletop/lumbrical-plus posture over the sponge.
  2. 2Press gently into the sponge while keeping PIPs extended.
  3. 3Relax fully between reps.

Cues

  • Knuckles bend, fingertips point straight.
  • No white knuckles.

Common mistakes

  • Collapsing into a full fist.
